Under a sunny sky Monday afternoon, Avery Stewart sweated as he wielded a shovel on a state work crew alongside a Juneau highway.
“This just goes through December,” he explained of his job, saying that he doesn’t think a government shutdown would affect him.
If the state shuts down most programs July 2, he thinks it’ll affect his girlfriend more than him.
“What is a government shutdown anyway?” he asked. “What is it?”
