Board of Education June Meeting - Date Change
The regular Board of Education meeting originally set for June 4, 2013, has been rescheduled to June 11 due to schedule conflicts. The meeting will begin at 6:15 pm in the JDHS Library. This will be the last meeting of the 2012-13 school year. The first meeting of the next school year will be August 13, 2013.

Public Invited to Interviews for Student Services Director
The Juneau School District has completed a nationwide search for candidates to fill the Student Services Director position. Current Director Brad Hoyt is leaving in July.
Interviews will be held on Monday, May 13, at the Bill Ray Center in Room 110. The public is invited to attend the interviews and to provide written feedback to the interview committee. The committee includes representatives from the Juneau Education Association, Juneau Educational Support Staff and Juneau School Administrative Association.

Teacher Team Selects SpringBoard for English/Language Arts Curriculum
Juneau School District is pleased to announce our Secondary English Language Arts Curriculum Renewal Team has selected SpringBoard to be utilized in grades 6-12. SpringBoard, is a research-based English/Language Arts program that prepares ALL students for high school, Advanced Placement, college, and career beyond high school. SpringBoard is the official “Pre-AP” program from College Board. It is aligned to the new, more rigorous Common Core State Standards, and built upon the College Board Standards for College Success.

JDHS Receives Student Council of Excellence Award
The JDHS Student Council recently returned from the Spring Conference of the Alaska Association of Student Governments (AASG) in Healy, AK. At that conference, the students were awarded the Student Council of Excellence Award. This is akin to winning the state championship! The Student Council submitted a portfolio binder documenting their work as a council in the last two years.
