UAS offers online reading program

The University of Alaska Southeast is currently accepting applications for their reading and reading specialist program. Teachers can either take 24 credits to earn a reading specialist endorsement on their Alaska teaching credential, or take 33 credits for a master’s degree and K-12 reading specialist endorsement. Applications are due April 15.

All classes are delivered via computer throughout Alaska; one course requires summer time in Juneau. Teachers gain a substantive background in reading research, assessment and instruction, and learn to coach their peers to improve reading and writing instruction appropriate to each student’s needs.
