Artists to lead community art class in Halibut Cove

A six-day community art class based on Diana Tillion’s “Emotional Quality of Light” will be held at the Cove Gallery and Studio in Halibut Cove from July 5 through July 10. The class will touch on a variety of techniques from basic drawing skills and drawing problems to watercolor techniques to woking with the indelible ink of the octopus to seeing and capturing light. All levels are welcome.

The class will be led byAlexis Roberts Keiner and Suzanne Peck, two artists who will be opening their joint show at the Ruby Room this First Friday. Keiner met Diana Tillion of Halibut Cove in 1999, and for the next 10 years spent a portion of each summer in Halibut Cove studying watercolor and octopus ink painting with her. Keiner met Peck at Colorado College.

Class time will be split up between special projects and problems, group painting work, free studio time and group feedback.

A few late evening classes will also be taught throughout the week for the Saltry Crew and others.
