Juneau-born filmmaker to show documentary Wednesday

The Gold Town Nickelodeon will be showing “Made a Machine by Describing the Landscape,” a 68-minute documentary about the band Califone, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21.

One of the directors, Solan Jensen, is from Juneau and will be hosting the screening with a Q&A session afterwards. The documentary crew followed the band through most of Europe and the U.S., collecting over 250 hours of footage. The film will also be screened at the Tucson Film and Music Festival in early October.

The film, co-directed by Joshua Marie Wilkinson, was inspired in part by Grant Gee’s documentary on Radiohead called “Meeting People Is Easy,” and by the directors’ mutual appreciation for the band.
