The Voices for Recovery Poetry Jam, a recovery-inspired event, will occur at 6:30-9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at The Canvas.
People are invited to share their original poems about recovery from addiction and mental illness. Amateur poets can bring up to three poems; all styles and ages are welcome. There is a three-minute limit for each poem and sign ups are recommended early, at 6 p.m., as space is limited.
The poetry jam is a competition-style event with $200 in cash prizes. There will also be a non-competitive reading between 6:30-7 p.m.
The event is a collaboration between the 6th annual “Voices of Recovery Poetry Jam” and the “Woosh Kinaadeiyi Poetry Slam.”
The event is free and open to the public. For more information call 586-1750 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
