Mudrooms, a live storytelling event, will be presented for the second time next week, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11. The event, organized by Amanda Compton, will feature seven local speakers who will each present a personal story in seven minutes. This month’s theme is “outdated.”
The first Mudrooms event, held at the Rookery, was a sold-out, packed gathering; this session will be held at McPhetres to accommodate a larger crowd.
Featured speakers will be Rabbi Dov Gartenburg, Geoff Kirsch, Rachel Brown, Jesse Kiehl, Tom Coscrove, Linda Mancusco, and Linda Buckley.
Mudrooms is modeled on a similar event in Anchorage, Arctic Entries, and was created in the spirit of Public Radio International’s “This American Life.”
In addition to the speakers, there will be live music; Amy O’Neill Houck, Erin Anais Hansen and Brooke Munro will perform before the event and during intermission.
Tickets are $7 (cash) at the door. Each month, all proceeds from the show are donated to a different charity; this month’s charity is The Glory Hole.
