The design team for the new Statewide Libraries Archives and Museum building project held the latest in a series of public presentations on Feb. 2 at the Alaska State Museum .
Drawings of this soon-to-be-shovel-ready project can be viewed on the project blog at alaskalamp.blogspot.com/.
The building -- which would integrate the State Museum, Archives and Library at one site -- would contain 118,000 square feet of new space, doubling the museum’s exhibition space and tripling its collection storage area. The project has received funding for land purchase, pre-planning, design, and site development, and holds an $18.5 million construction general obligation bond. The remaining budget need is $94.5 million, of which $20 million is in Gov. Parnell’s proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
