Juneau Jazz & Classics will lead off its 26th annual festival of jazz, blues, and classical music with the Taj Mahal Trio.
Presented by IBEW Local 1547, Taj Mahal is a Grammy award-winning blues musician and composer, and one of the most influential figures in late 20th century blues and roots music. Taj Mahal’s career spans more than four decades and includes music representing virtually every corner of the world.
The performance begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, at Centennial Hall. Tickets are available for $35, and there are discounts for students and seniors.
The 2012 Festival will build on the excitement of the Taj Mahal Trio performance with blues cruises, dance band Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, “From Russia with Love” classical programming, and much more— with at least one performance to see every day from May 4-19. Tickets and discounted ticket packages will be available starting in March.
Tickets and further information are available online at www.jazzandclassics.org, or in person at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center, Hearthside Books, and Rainy Retreat Books.
