In conjunction with the “Out of the Rain” photorgraphic exhibit opening Friday at the Alaska State Museum, the museum will offer a youth activity on Saturday based on the concept of homelessness. The “Out of the Rain Game” will feature guest instructor Halli Kenoyer of Ketchikan, who will facilitate the activity for kids in grades four through seven.
Students will be introduced to the exhibit, which features portraits of people emerging from homelessness taken by Jorden Nigro, and explore why people find themselves homeless and how families can help. The activity will involve creative game playing and a giant community game board, as well as the challenge of constructing miniature shelters.
The workshop runs from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 3.
The Exploring the Arts series is designed to help kids explore the museum’s exhibits and to offer students an opportunity to work with experts and express their own ideas through hands-on activities.
