For this weekend’s performances of Perseverance Theatre’s “A Raisin in the Sun,” Starletta DuPois will be filling in for Lizan Mitchell.
DuPois, of Los Angeles, has played all three female roles in “A Raisin in the Sun” and earned a Best Actress Award for her role as Lena Younger with the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, England.
Movie appearances include a role in “Waiting to Exhale” with Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett, and in “Wolf” with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfieffer.
Fans of television’s “Lost” will remember her as Michael’s mother, and other television appearances include “Cold Case” and “K-Ville.”
Stage roles in addition to “A Raisin in the Sun” include a role in “The Mighty Gents,” for which she earned a Tony Award nomination, and “Miss Evers’ Boys.”
DuPois also stars in a one-woman show called “Order My Steps.”
Mitchell will return to her role before the end of the run. “A Raisin in the Sun” runs through Sunday, April 1.
