DJs from KXLL, Excellent Radio, are among the locals who are participating in this year’s St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event, a fundraiser for cancer research.
The team, the KXLL Li’l Shavers, will join nearly 80 locals who have signed up to have their heads shaved.
This year’s event takes place at 4 p.m. Saturday at TK McGUire’s.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research. Across the world, nearly 33,000 volunteers, including more than 4,000 females, have registered to shave their heads, raising more than $13.9 million to date.
More than 1,070 events have been scheduled so far in 2012 and this year the Foundation hopes to surpass its 2011 fundraising record of more than $28.3 million.
