Paula Poundstone to perform tonight

Last week, comedian Paula Poundstone tweeted: “March 15th I’m in Juneau, 16th Anchorage, and 17th Fairbanks, and all in Alaska! I’m rehearsing in my freezer. The waffles up front love me.”

Poundstone will perform one show in Juneau tonight, March 15, at Centennial Hall. The show begins at 8 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Poundstone is a regular panelist on the NPR weekly new quiz show, “Wait Wait ... Don’t Tell Me,” hosted by Peter Segal, and was recently inducted into the Comedy Hall of Fame. She has also been recognized as one of Comedy Central’s 100 greatest stand-ups of all time.

Poundstone got her start as a teen comedian, traveling by bus around the country, performing in clubs as she went. She built up her stand-up talent in Boston and San Francisco before settling in Los Angeles, where she soon began starring in comedy specials for HBO, eventually earning the cable ACE for best stand-up comedy special. In the early 90s she also appeared on Saturday Night Live, and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, before launching her own show, “The Paula Poundstone Show.”

She is known in part for her improvisational talents and interactions with her audience.

Tickets to the show are $30 in advance and $35 the day of the show, with $5 from each ticket donated to KTOO/KRNN/KXLL radio. They are available in advance at Marlintini’s, Hearthside Books, and online.

Attendees must be 21 and over or with a legal guardian to attend.

Poundstone’s appearance is offered by KTOO in conjunction with Marlintini’s Lounge.
