Art of Place lecture to feature Ed and Percy Kunz

The second annual Art of Place lecture and demonstration series continues this Friday, March 23, with a presentation by noted artists and culture bearers Ed Kunz and Percy Kunz, who will present “Art of Place Identity.“ The event takes place in the Glacier View Room (Egan 220) at UAS from 10 a.m. to noon, and will be followed by a dessert potluck and opportunity to visit with the artists.

Earlier programs in this year’s Art of Place series have featured Lyle James and Steve Henrikson and Janice Criswell. The final presentation, “Art of Place: Sustenance,” is scheduled for April 27 and will feature Tlingit elder Helen Watkins. Community members, students, and visitors are invited to attend both programs and to bring their own stories and treasured objects to share with the artists and with other attendees.

The Art of Place series was founded by UAS Assistant Professor Ernestine Hayes, and is made possible by funding from BP ConocoPhllips.
