ICAN to host film to raise awareness of doula services

In recognition of the upcoming Cesarean Awareness month in April, the International Cesarean Awareness Network of Juneau will host a showing of the film, “Doula The Ultimate Birth Companion” at the Silverbow on March 25 at 5 p.m.

Through the film showing, the group hopes to raise awareness of Doula services in Juneau as a way to prevent a primary cesarean section. Jesse Higdon, a local doula, will answer questions at the end of the film and share information about local services.

The film showing is free with purchase off the Silverbow menu.

ICAN is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesarean section births through education, providing support during cesarean recovery and promoting vaginal birth after cesarean.
