Moody Symphonic Band to perform twice in Juneau Friday

The Moody Symphonic Band.

The Moody Symphonic Band, conducted by David Gauger II of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, will be performing two free concerts on Friday, March 23, in Juneau. The first will be at noon at the Nugget Mall, and the second will be at 7 p.m. at the Thunder Mountain High School Auditorium.

Founded in 1970, the Moody Symphonic Band is comprised of qualified students from Moody’s undergraduate school. Their repertoire includes band and orchestral concert music as well as hymn and gospel song arrangements of both traditional and contemporary styles.

The band tours the United States twice each year and has occasional overseas tours. They have traveled and ministered in Austria, China, Denmark, Hong Kong, Hungary, Norway, Romania and Sweden. Their most recent tour was to Israel in spring 2008.

The 55 member band will perform in Fairbanks and Anchorage before arriving in Juneau. Housing and meal arrangements have been made by Auke Bay Bible Church and Douglas Island Bible Church.
