Thodos Dance Chicago to lead workshops, perform this week

Contemporary dance ensemble Thodos Dance Chicago will visit Juneau this week, offering local dancers a masterclass, workshop and a performance over the course of three days.

Tonight, April 5, a modern dance masterclass will be held at Juneau Dance Unlimited, led by TDC dancer Jessica Miller Tomlinson. Tomlinson currently serves as co-artistic director for Thodos/Menomonee Club Youth Ensemble in addition to teaching ballet, dance medley and jazz for the youth dance program at the Menomonee Club for Boys & Girls. This class is rree to students of Juneau Dance Unlimited, and others can register with JAHC at 586-2787 for a $20 fee. Class begins at 5:30 p.m.

Friday, April 6, a hip-hop workshop will be offered at the JRC/The Alaska Club in the Mendenhall Valley from 7-9 p.m. This class is geared toward middle school and high school aged dancers with a basic-intermediate to advanced level of training. Saturday, April 7, the troupe will give a performance at the JDHS auditorium beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5-$30 and available at the JACC, Hearthside and Online at www.jahc.org.
