UAS to host Community Day on Campus

Community Day on Campus, a festive day of music, exhibits, arts and food, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the University of Alaska Southeast’s Auke Lake Campus. This annual event is collaboration between Juneau Jazz and Classics, the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council and the university.


Participating community groups include: Discovery Southeast activities, Slow Foods, DIPAC Petting Zoo, Barefoot Bouncers Bounce Houses, SAIL, Canvas Community Collaborative Painting Project, Goldtown Nickelodeon (movie pass giveaways!), Litter Free, Marie Drake Planetarium, Juneau Cribbage Club, Alaska Wise Women, Juneau DanceUnlimited, Alaska Wildlife Alliance, Juneau Food Cooperative, Raven Berries, Kettle Corn, and more.

11:40 Juneau String Ensembles

12 p.m. Floyd Dryden Middle School Orchestra

12:20 p.m. Alaska Youth Choir

12:40 p.m. Juneau Wind Ensemble

1:00 p.m. Alaskapella (UAS accapella singers)

1:20 p.m. Sammy Burrous (blues guitar)

1:40 p.m. Thunder Mountain Big Band

2:20 p.m. Floyd Dryden Middle School Jazz Band

2:40 p.m. TMHS Jazz Band

3:00 p.m. JDHS Jazz Band

3:20 p.m. Woosh.ji.een Dance Group

Some Juneau Jazz and Classics guest artists will be on hand to play with some of these performance groups.

Drivers should be advised thta Auke Lake Way (the prior front entrance to the UAS Auke Lake Campus) is permanently closed to vehicular traffic. The new enrance is located on north Back Loop Road around the corner.
