State arts council seeks applications for public art project in Kodiak

The Alaska State Council on the Arts, on behalf of the Kodiak Island Borough & School District, is requesting qualifications from artists for interior and exterior public artwork to be commissioned for Kodiak High School in Kodiak.


This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is open to all professional artists residing in the United States. Applications will be accepted online only through CaFÉ at:

Submissions will be judged on a competitive basis. Finalists may be considered for more than one location or site. The art selection committee will choose the final sites and the best possible artwork for each site.

The budget for the project is $590,000.

The mission of the Alaska State Council on the Arts (ASCA) is to foster the development of the arts for all Alaskans through education, partnership, grants and services. ASCA is a division of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development, and is governed by 11 council members appointed by the governor. It is supported with general funds appropriated by the Alaska State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support for arts education programs from the Rasmuson Foundation.
