Third annual Bearfest to be held later this month in Wrangell

Bearfest, an annual festival organized to celebrate the brown and black bears of Alaska, is scheduled this year for July 25-29 in Wrangell. Events include photography and bear safety workshops, research symposiums, movies, arts and crafts exhibits, and many outdoor activities, from golf to a full-distance marathon.

Also on tap are this year’s featured musical artists, the jazz duo Tuck & Patti. The two will be in Wrangell for free concerts on the evenings of July 27 and 28 at the Nolan Center. Funding for the entertainment, as well as for other events, was made possible through donations from First Bank Alaska, Alaska Airlines, Alaskan Brewing Co., and local businesses.
