JAHC to celebrate 39th anniversary Friday

This Friday’s Concerts in the Park event will also be a celebration of the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council’s 39th Anniversary, with signups for volunteers for the 2012-2013 JAHC season, Wearable Art and other events. Volunteer slots for the season are very popular and fill up fast.

This event will take place at Marine Park from 5:30-7 p.m., or at the JACC if it rains.

Scheduled performers are: Musical Moments (classical flute and guitar), The Empty Oil Barrel Band (parodies, satire, acoustic fun), and Malcolm Tullis (melancholic/happy rock’n roll).

Special birthday season tickets specials will be available at the JACC all day.

This season’s JAHC events include: Riders in the Sky (Comedy and Western) on Sept. 24; New York Polyphony (Vocal Quartet) on Oct. 9; Break of Reality (Cello Rock) on Oct. 29; a Gospel Workshop and Celebration with Rev Bobbi Lewis of Harlem, N.y. on Feb. 19-23 and Lady Smith Black Mambazo (male choral group from South Africa that backed up Paul Simon on his album “Graceland”) on March 17.

Attendees can also sign up for the 2013 Wearable Art Show, scheduled for Feb. 16 and 17 (the theme is “organix”), JACC Putt Mini Golf, and other events.
