Perseverance Theatre’s Summer Theatre Arts Rendezvous (STAR) program performances will take place this weekend and next weekend at UAS.
Juneau’s young actors will perform three plays: the musical “Pirates of Penzance Jr.,” Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” and “The Bailer at the Back of the Boat,” a new play written by local playwright Ishmael Hope.
Performances begin Aug. 3 and run through Aug. 12 at the Noyes Pavilion on the University of Alaska Southeast campus. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Festival passes, which are good for three performances, are $25. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

“Pirates of Penzance Jr.”: Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
“Romeo and Juliet”: Saturday at 2 p.m.; Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.; and Friday, Aug., 10, at 7:30 p.m.
“The Bailer at the Back of the Boat”: Saturday at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 9, at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Aug. 11. at 2 p.m.
