Morally Improv-erished launches The Improject

Every second Friday, beginning Sept. 14, The Canvas and Morally Improv-erished will host The Improject, an open workshop in improvisational skills followed by an improv show in which anyone can register to perform.

“To create a community of performers, people need learning opportunities and performance opportunities,” said Eric Caldwell, producer of Morally Improv-erished, in a press release. “The Improject allows people to learn theater skills and put them on display in front of a friendly audience on a regular basis.”

At 6 p.m.. Caldwell will host The Joy of Improv, a workshop that teaches the basics of improvised scenework while emphasizing the positive side of imperfection. The workshop is open to performers of all levels; no previous experience is necessary.

At 8 p.m., Heather LaVerne of the UAS Improv Club will be the featured performer in The Greatest Show. Anyone interested in performing alongside LaVerne can sign up at 7:45 p.m. for a place in the show. Audience and performers alike are welcome.

The Improject is a free event, with donations to The Canvas strongly encouraged.
