Open Studios tours continue this weekend

For the second year in a row, the Franklin Street Gallery at the Baranof Hotel has organized a month-long series of artists’ studio visits. The Open Studios events began last weekend and continue through the end of the month.


This weekend, visit the studios of Pua Maunu, Nancy Rosel-Brown and Sharron Lobaugh.

Maunu, who paints in oils, is available to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in her downtown studio, located at 603 11th St. in the basement. Rosel-Brown is also available at the same time, in the same space. Rosel-Brown works in oil.

And Lobaugh, at 3340 Fritz Cove Road, will open her studio on two Saturdays, Oct. 13 and Oct 20 from 12-4 p.m. Lobaugh works in watercolor.

Also available this weekend is Mostapha Beya, who paints in acrylic on canvas. Beya has Open Studio times every Saturday and Sunday this month from 3- 7 p.m. and lives at 4032 Granite Drive in the Valley.

Next weekend look for Barbara Craver, Jane Stokes, Dan Fruits David Woodie and Jerry Smetzer. And during the final weekend of the month, MK MacNaughton and David Riccio will be featured.

Margaret Brady Fund scholarship applications now accepted

Area students pursuing artistic excellence may apply for scholarships as part of the Margaret Frans Brady Fund.
