Nominations are now open for the Alaska Arts Education Consortium’s “Alaska Champion of Arts in Education” awards. This award honors individuals or organizations from around Alaska who champion the arts in education, highlighting the positive impact of the arts on the lives of children and youth.
The following criteria should be considered when nominating a person or organization:
A nominee should:
have made an impact on arts in education in Alaska;
have been involved in a project or program with a substantial contribution to the arts in education;
have positively influenced a community through arts in education;
and have positively affected the lives of students in Alaska through the arts.
One champion from each of the AAEC’s five regions will be chosen (Arctic, Interior, Southeast, Southcentral and Western). Current AAEC board members and advisors are not eligible.
Nominations are due by Jan. 31. Nominations received after that will not be considered. If your nominee is selected, you will be asked to provide a more-detailed biography and a photo for publication on the AAEC web site and other promotional material.
The AAEC Board will review nominations and make the final selections at the Feb. 19 board meeting.
