Comedy and Character workshop to be led by Roblin Gray Davis

A workshop on Comedy and Character, led by Roblin Gray Davis, will be held Friday at the Canvas, as part of the Improject, a monthly event hosted by Morally Improv-erished designed to develop improvisational performance skills.

This week’s workshop is based in physical improvisation, searching to understand why we laugh and how you, uniquely, help others laugh. The team will explore the basics of physical comedy, imaginative storytelling, and the elements to building a convincing character.

The workshop will be followed by an exhibition, at which both audience and performers are welcome.

Davis is a founding member of Strange Attractor Theater Company, earned an M.F.A. from London International School of Performing Arts, and completed the certificate program at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. He is also a recognized Teaching Artist with the Alaska State Council on the Arts and a 2002 Connie Boochever Artist Fellow.

The Comedy and Character workshop begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 at The Canvas at REACH and will be followed by an open performance at 8 p.m. Both the workshop and the performance are free of charge, with donations to The Canvas recommended.
