'Savories, Sweets & Songs' organized to help Juneau's Bontrager

A special event has been organized to help Elva Bontrager, a Juneau resident who is very involved in the local music scene and who lost her home in the Gastineau Apartments fire.

“Savories, Sweets & Songs” will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 29, at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Bontrager’s honor, and will include music by Mike Truax, the Alaska String Band, Stuart Ely, and others. Attendees should bring a dessert or savory treat to share or auction; coffee and tea will be provided.

Cash donations will be gratefully accepted, and will be used to help Bontrager replace items such as furniture, bedding, kitchenware, towels, and other items. For those unable to attend, but wishing to contribute, donations may be made out to Steve Hamilton, Kathy Fanning or Terry Hoskinson and may be delivered to or mailed to: Steve Hamilton, 127 North Franklin St., Juneau, AK 99801.
