Library to present "Global Lens" film series

The downtown Juneau Public Library will host a Global Lens film series beginning Jan. 13. The films will be shown on Sundays at 3 p.m. through Feb. 17 and are free.


The Global Lens series for 2012 will premiere at the Museum of Modern Art this month, then be presented in more than 35 cities across the United States and Canada throughout the year. This international film festival includes award-winning narrative feature films from Albania, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Rwanda and Turkey.

Here’s a look at the schedule:

Jan. 13: “Fat, Bald, Short Man” (Columbia)

Jan. 20: “Craft” (Brazil)

Jan. 27: “Toll Booth” (Turkey)

Feb. 3: “The Finger” (Argentina)

Feb. 10: “Mourning” (Iran)

Feb. 17: “The Prize” (Argentina)

Margaret Brady Fund scholarship applications now accepted

Area students pursuing artistic excellence may apply for scholarships as part of the Margaret Frans Brady Fund.
