Anchorage-based 49 Writers announces spring classes, two in Juneau

Posted: January 17, 2013 - 1:02am

49 Writers has announced their class offerings for the spring season, two of which will be offered in Juneau: “What’s Next? Taking Story Starts and Rough Drafts through Development and Revision” with Amy O’Neill Houck and “Characters: Real And Imagined” also with O’Neill Houck.

49 Writers was formed in January 2009 by Andromeda Romano-Lax and Deb Vanasse as a web-based hub for Alaskan writers. The next year, the women supplemented their online presence with a physical one, opening a writing center in Anchorage that offered classes and literary events. The writing center has since moved to a new location, at 645 W. 3rd Ave. in Anchorage, where 49 Writers continues to offer workshops, classes, readings, and other events. In addition to these offerings and their blog, www.49writers.blogspot.com, 49 Writers organizes an annual writers retreat and a writing program for youth.
