JDHS theater opens 'Annie'

The Juneau Douglas High School Theater Department will present “Annie” beginning this weekend, with a second weekend of shows scheduled for Feb. 22 and 23.

All proceeds from the production will go towards the JDHS Theater Department’s trip to Scotland as part of the Festival Fringe, a world-famous arts festival held annually in August. JDHS Theater was one of only 45 high school theater programs in the country selected by the American High School Theatre Festival out of 2,200 programs nominated. The department is trying to raise funds to send 20 students to the festival to perform “Pippin.” “Pippin” will first be shown on the JDHS stage in May.

“Annie” will be performed Feb. 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. at the JDHS auditorium. On Sunday, Feb. 10, a special sing-a-long matinee will be presented at 2 p.m. Shows continue Feb. 22 and 23 at 7 p.m.

The cast includes Megan Wright as Annie, Ellis Notmeyer as Daddy Warbucks, Madison Truitt as Grace, Cheyenne Siverly as Hannigan, Ben Krall as Rooster, Brita Fagerstrom as Lily and Robert Newman as President Roosevelt.

Orphans will be played by Roxie Hildebrand, Jurny Hinz, Emily Baumgartner, Melinda Cummins, Darian Perov, Becky Erickson and Lydia Rail.

Other cast members are Aaron Abella, Arianna Orford, Aria Moore, Ashlee Carella, Ashleigh Watt, Quinn White, Trace Mitchell, Melissa Bowhay, Marina McDowell, Harmony Wentz, Devyn House, Alexander Janek-Peterburs, Alisia Nelson, Arianna Paul, Chloe DeRocher, Keely Ewing, Katline Barrows, Serena Partlow, Melissa Paradis, Pheonix Williams, Lauren Shanley-DeBuse and Varsha Chhabria.
