Talk on history of Alaska's lighthouses to be presented Saturday at the city musuem

The Gastineau Channel Historical Society and the Juneau-Douglas City Museum will host a discussion on the history of lighthouses in Alaska on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. The presentation will be led by Gary Gillette, an architect and CBJ Port Engineer, and will include an update on the preservation of Sentinel Island Lighthouse. Gillette, a member of the Historic Resources Advisory Committee and the president of Gastineau Channel Historical Society, has been involved with the preservation at Sentinel Island Lighthouse for the past 15 years. He has also been participating in the preservation at the Last Chance Mining Museum for the past 20 years.
