This week’s Fireside Lecture at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center will be “Living with Bears in Juneau,” led by wildlife biologist Ryan Scott. He will be talking about black bears in Juneau and efforts to learn more through radio/satellite collar data. He will also discuss measures to control trash and human-bear safety.
The lecture will be presented twice, at 6:30 and at 8 p.m. at the visitor center, and is free and open to the public.
Fireside Lectures have been held at the glacier since 1962. They provide an opportunity for locals to hear experts talk about human and natural history.
