This week’s Fireside Lecture at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center will be “From Icefield to Ocean: Impacts of Glacier Change in Alaska,” led by University of Alaska Southeast professor Eran Hood and others. Hood will explore how glacial runoff from coastal Alaska’s thinning and retreating glaciers impact hydrology, ecology and oceanography.
The lecture will be presented twice, at 6:30 and at 8 p.m. at the visitor center, and is free and open to the public.
Fireside Lectures have been held at the glacier since 1962. They provide an opportunity for locals to hear experts talk about human and natural history.
