Theatre in the Rough opens "Equivocation"

Theatre in the Rough will open their spring production, “Equivocation,” this weekend at McPhetre’s Hall, with shows continuing through March 24. Directed by Katie Jensen, the play centers on a fictional Shakespeare who has been commissioned to write a play promoting the government’s version of the Gunpowder Plot, an assassination attempt against King James I hatched in 1605. Written by Bill Cain, the play premiered in 2009 at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

A free preview performance will be held tonight, March 7, at 7:30 p.m., and a pay-as-you-will performance is scheduled for Thursday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m.

Evening performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are Sundays, March 17 and 24, at 2 p.m.
