Asper Smith to present Coffee & Collections at city museum Saturday

At this Saturday’s Coffee & Collections at the Juneau Douglas City Museum, author and illustrator Sarah Asper-Smith will present “Storytelling & Digital Illustration” beginning at 10:30 a.m. March 16. Her presentation will focus on color, design, typography, and her professional career in storytelling and digital illustration.

Asper-Smith is the author and illustrator of “Have You Ever Seen a Smack of Jellyfish?”, published in December 2010, and the author of the new book, “I Will Tuck You In” illustrated by her husband, Mitch Watley. She studied Art History at Earlham College, attended the Eiseman Color Institute, and received her Master’s in Fine Arts in Museum Exhibition Planning and Design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After receiving her MFA she began working as a museum exhibit designer, which she feels is another outlet for her love of storytelling.

This presentation is free and open to the public.

Winter hours at the museum are Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm.
