Fireside Lecture to focus on Peterson sisters

"Golden Girls: Peterson Sisters Make History" will be the focus of Friday's Fireside Lecture at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center.

This Friday’s Fireside Lecture at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center will be “Golden Girls: Peterson Sisters Make History,” led by Jensen-Olson Arboretum horticulturist and manager Merrill Jensen.

Jensen will discuss homesteader John Peterson, for whom a local trail and lake are named, and his teenage daughters, Irma and Margaret, who took over control of their father’s gold mine after his death.

Fireside Lectures are presented twice, at 6:30 p.m. and at 8 p.m. at the visitor center. Doors open at 6 p.m.
