Irene Muller to perform at UAS Rec Center Friday, state library Wednesday

Irene Muller

This First Friday at the UAS REC Center, UAS’s Sound and Motion series will feature a night of original music with local artist Irene Muller and band. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the REC center, located at 12300 Mendenhall Loop Road.

The concert coincides with the release of the band’s first full-length album, “Victory,” which features local musicians Sammy Burrous (guitar), Dale McFarlin (drums), and Simon Taylor (bass).

Muller will also perform at the Alaska State Library's Historical Collections on Wednesday at noon, where she will feature some songs from the Alaska Folk Festival archives. She has recently been working on digitizing the entire collection of reel-to-reel tapes at the library.

Muller, a student at UAS, was born in North Carolina, raised in Alaska and transplanted to Seattle for most of her adolescence. She returned to Southeast at 18 and now lives in Juneau. More information about Muller is available online at, or listen to samples of her music at

Both performances are free and open to the public.

Photography, ceramics, jewelry and other art by UAS REC Center staff will be also featured at this final First Friday Sound and Motion event.
