Alaska Quarterly Review will host a release party in celebration of their 2013 Spring & Summer issue tonight at the Tap Root in Anchorage.
The event will begin with a cocktail hour, featuring vodka literary tonics and gimlets. An AQR spotlight will follow with a reading from Alaska writer and contributor, Gary Holthaus and an evening of music from Kevin Worrell.
Described as “one of the nation’s best literary magazines” by the Washington Post and as “fresh treasure” by the Sunday New York Times Book Review, 2013 marks Alaska Quarterly Review’s 31st year of publication. Since, 1982, it has served as a bridge between Alaska and the national and international literary community.
The 2013 Spring & Summer issue showcases a range of original works, including two novellas, 7 short stories, 4 personal essays and 31 poems by 27 poets.
The AQR Vodka Literary Tonic is open to adults 21 and over. Admission is $7. The event runs from 7-10 p.m. at Tap Root, 3300 Spenard Road in Anchorage.
