Sean Tracey and The Austin Steamers to perform tonight and Saturday

The Austin Steamers

Former Juneau musician Sean Tracey will be in town this weekend to perform with his band, The Austin Steamers. The band will play two shows on Saturday, at 4 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. at the Gold Town. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $10.

The Steamers will also be playing at the Alaskan Hotel tonight, Friday, beginning at 10 p.m.

The Austin-based band’s music combines elements of country, bluegrass, Texas swing and old-time stringband. The band formed in 2011, and plays a regular Friday night gig at the White Horse Honky Tonk in Austin. Members include Tracey (guitar and harmonica), Joe Sundell (banjo), Ben Hodges (mandolin), Daniel Zeh (upright bass); all four contribute vocals.

Tracey, who used to write a music column for the Hooligan and the Empire’s Arts section, was part of the Panhandle Crabgrass Revival Band in Juneau, which also featured Maridon Boario, Johnse Ostman, Erik Chadwell and Andy Ferguson. He also played with Honky Tonk Habit, the Vaporizers and the Splinter Pickers. He released his first CD, “Trouble,” in 2008.
