JAHC Friday concert to include Mosquito Market

Collette Costa belts out a song as Mike Bucy, left, Doug Bridges and Mike Stanley play brass during a concert at Marine Park in August 2008.

The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council’s Food Truck Fridays series continues Friday at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center.

This Friday’s performers will be Kray Van Kirk, Full Circle (with Mary DeSmet and Greg Burger) and Carl Reese. If it’s sunny, the concert will be performed out on the lawn, and if it rains it will move into the JACC.

Formerly called Concerts in the Park, this newly expanded series includes artists and food vendors in addition to local performances. Beginning this Friday, the JAHC will also host a Mosquito Market, an Alaska-style flea market, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Those who wish to participate as vendors can pay the $5 fee in the JACC lobby and park in the parking lot. Market vendors should be advised that they will need to take all their items with them at the close of the event.

Concerts run from 5:30–7 p.m., June 7–Aug. 16.

On June 21, Concerts in the Park will host the monthly Woosh Kinaadeiyi Poetry Slam & Open Mic.

Finishing out the month, on June 28, will be the City of Juneau Pipe Band and Highland Dancers, and Queens of the Sound Table.
