Seattle-based performance group Mod Carousel and guest artist Lily Verlaine will perform “A Mod Revue,” a full length cabaret, at Perseverance Theater this weekend. Shows will be June 28 and 29 at 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. A full bar will be provided by the Rendezvous.
Mod Carousel is a multidisciplinary collective featuring the Luminous Pariah (formerly of Juneau), Paris Original, and Trojan Original. Since the group formed in 2010, they've performed in more than 25 troupe shows in Europe, as well as across the United States. Their shows combine physical theater, dance, comedy and strip tease.
Guest artist Verlaine, a classically trained ballet dancer and burlesque artist, was recently nominated by the Burlesque Hall of Fame to compete for the title of Reigning Queen of Burlesque 2011. Verlaine has been featured in several documentaries about burlesque, and is also a choreographer, designer and educator. For more, visit www.lilyverlaine.com.
