This month’s Woosh Kinaadeiyí poetry slam, which will include a BBQ social, will be held Friday, July 19, at Auke Rec, from 5:30-9 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
The BBQ was organized as a way for new and regular participants to socialize outside regular monthly performance events. Attendees are encouraged to bring food to share, and volunteers are needed to help provide transportation out to Auke Rec for those needing rides. Contact Jacque Boucher if you are interested in volunteering, or if you need a ride, through email at Jacque.firstname.lastname@example.org .
The poetry slam, hosted by Boucher and Christy NaMee Eriksen, will begin at 6 p.m., with sign ups beginning at at 5:30 p.m. A non-competitive open mic will precede the poetry slam. Poets and performers of all ages and abilities are welcome.
Woosh Kinaadeiyí is a local nonprofit committed to diversity, inclusive community, and empowering voice. The organization hosts monthly poetry slams and open mics throughout the community, moving to a different location every month.
