Hopson releases second CD of classical guitar music

Local guitarist Dan Hopson has released his second classical guitar CD, “Watercolor.”

Hopson, a Juneau resident for more than 30 years, plays guitar every Friday and Saturday at the Gold Room restaurant at the Baranof Hotel.

“Watercolor” is a collection of 23 short works from his Gold Room repertoire. The pieces include works by John Dowland, Francis Cutting, J.S. Bach, Santiago de Murcia, Fernando Sor, Dionisio Aguado, Astor Piazzolla and Andrew York, as well as an arrangement of the pop classic “You Belong to Me.”

Hopson’s first CD, “Solo Classical Guitar,” was released in December, 2011. Both CDs feature cover art by local artist Constance Baltuck.

The CDs are on sale in the lobby of the Juneau Arts & Culture Center, at 350 Whittier St.
