Coppa to celebrate grand opening Friday

New work by MK MacNaughton will be on view at the grand opening of Coppa, an ice cream and coffee shop located at 917 Glacier Highway (next to Seong's Sushi).

Mark Wheeler and Jessica Paris’ new homemade ice cream and coffee shop will be celebrating its grand opening this Friday, Sept. 27. At the opening, local artist MK MacNaughton will exhibit a series of new paintings and local singer-songwriter Irene Muller will perform. The opening runs from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Coppa, which began serving customers Monday, is open Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. The shop is located at 917 Glacier Highway, next to Seong’s sushi restaurant, by the Federal Building.

In addition to a rotating selection of ice cream in unusual flavors (such as Alaskan Brewing Company Smoked Porter brownie and bacon pecan), the shop will offer gourmet baked goods made by local baker Nancy Hemenway, coffee roasted by Seattle’s Caffe Luca, and teas from Portland’s Steven Smith Teamaker.
