This coming Saturday, Sept. 28, local writer and five-time 24-Hour Miracle producer Geoff Kirsch will lead a free interactive playwriting seminar/workshop from 1-3-p.m. at the Nugget Mall. The session will focus on structuring short scenes, building tension and other basic elements of dramatic writing, as well as tips for overcoming writers’ block and writing under tight deadlines.
This is part one of a free three-part seminar/workshop series offered by the Juneau Douglas Little Theatre in advance of the 2013 24 Hour Miracle, scheduled for Oct. 18-19. A workshop on acting will be held Oct. 5, and one on directing will be held Oct. 12, at the same time and place.
The 24 Miracle, now in its sixth year, is a one-day theater challenge in which four teams of writers, directors and actors produce four original short plays in 24 hours. JDLT is looking for actors, stage crew and other assorted volunteers. For more information, visit www.jdlittletheatre.org.
