The University of Alaska Southeast recently posted a new set of Tlingit video recordings on the UAS website for language learners. They can be heard here: www.uas.alaska.edu/tlingit-talk.
The recordings were part of a Tlingit Conversation Documentation Project conducted from 2007-2013, undertaken by Alice Taff and other faculty, along with UAS students and Tlingit elders. The project team recorded 62 people throughout Tlingit ancestral territory in Southeast Alaska and Canada, including Nora Marks Dauenhauer, Florence Marks Sheakley, Cyril George, Walter Soboleff, Marsha Hotch, Archie Cavanaugh Sr. and David Katzeek. The project was undertaken at UAS and funded by National Science Foundation and National Endowment for the Humanities.
