The annual Choose Respect Poster Contest is now open for submissions, in conjunction with the observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. The theme for this year’s contest is “Respect: Lead the Way.”
The project encourages young Alaskans to create images that represent respect and healthy relationships. All Alaskan school children from preschool through high school are eligible to participate.
Some guidelines: Posters should be no larger than 9”x12” and no smaller than 8.5”x11” and should include the name of the artist, school and teacher’s contact information on the back. Bold colors and simple fonts are best. Posters may be submitted electronically or via mail. The deadline for receiving poster contest entries is Dec. 13.
The winning artwork will be professionally printed and promoted along with the Choose Respect marches in March 2014.
Contest guidelines and deadline information are available online here: gov.alaska.gov/parnell/priorities/choose-respect.html.
