Jazz & Classics brings back popular workshop

Juneau Jazz & Classics will bring back their popular cabaret workshop, featuring jazz pianist and vocal coach Barney McClure, beginning on Sunday. Oct. 20. The six-day workshop will culminate with a cabaret performance, Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at the JACC.

During the workshop, participants will select a song they’d like to sing and practice it nightly. McClure will be available to help with song selection and arrangements, as well as private rehearsal sessions. Formal vocal training isn’t necessary. Jazz & Classics’ Linda Rosenthal recommends signing up as early as possible for the workshop, as there is limited space.

The cost of the workshop is $150 ($100 for students) and includes five evening classes, a half-hour private session with McClure and rehearsal time. Participants will also receive one complimentary ticket for a family member or friend to the grand finale performance. Tickets for the performance will be available at the JACC and Hearthside Books.
