Two book events are scheduled this week at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, Juneau Public Library staff will lead storytime in the gallery at 2 p.m. in conjunction with Jim Fowler’s exhibit of children’s book illustrations now on view at the JAHC gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
And on Friday, Nov. 8, First Lady Sandy Parnell is scheduled to present the 100,000th book from the Imagination Library program in Southeast Alaska to a family in Juneau. The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Juneau Arts and Culture Center.
Friday’s event will kick off a fund-raising campaign for the Imagination Library, which provides free books to about 2,000 children throughout Southeast Alaska. In Juneau, the program is housed at the Association for the Education of Young Children-Southeast Alaska and run by volunteers with support from individuals, corporations, and nonprofits.
