Perseverance Theatre's Young Company presents "The Boxcar Children"

Perseverance Theatre’s Young Company will bring Barbara Field’s adaptation of Gertrude Warner’s classic tale “The Boxcar Children” to the Second Stage this weekend. Performances are 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16, and Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 18 and 19, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

Set in the Great Depression, “The Boxcar Children” follows the story of the newly orphaned Alden children who take matters into their own hands. The children are in fear of getting separated from each other, so they travel around Illinois by themselves. They stumble upon a boxcar, and decided to set up house. In the meantime, police, a doctor, a social worker and a grandfather search for their whereabouts.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, and will be available at the door.

Perseverance’s Young Company, led by Artistic Director Art Rotch and Education Director Shona Strauser, is a six-week, after-school theater program for youth ages 10-16, held twice a year. For more information, contact Strauser at
